Edinburgh International Film Festival has a strong track record of nurturing new talent across all disciplines in the film industry with a wide range of innovative talent programmes created, shaped and managed by the festival. That tradition continues this year with two exciting initiatives including the returning EIFF Talent Lab connecting up and coming filmmakers with key film industry players, as well as the inaugural EIFF Curatorial Commission, a new project focused on the art of film curation. Both of these projects are currently open for applications with a final deadline of Monday 09 May 2022.
EIFF Talent lab offers thirty Scottish, UK and international screenwriters, directors and producers the invaluable opportunity to connect with - and learn from - industry experts in a relaxed and informal environment. Over a four-day residential (17 - 20 August) during Edinburgh International Film Festival, selected filmmakers will take part in meetings, discussions and networking opportunities to help develop their projects, their careers, and themselves with a selection of invited industry professionals including sales agents, executive producers, literary agents, story editors and financiers. At the centre of the EIFF Talent Lab is an invaluable afternoon of 1-2-1 advice and information sessions with experienced industry insiders, all with the aim of honing skills and building confidence within a new generation of filmmakers.
Previous alumni of EIFF Talent Lab include Anna Griffin (CALIBRE); Ben Sharrock (LIMBO); Claire Oakley (MAKE UP); Daniel Kokotajlo (APOSTASY); Eva Riley (PERFECT 10); John McPhail (ANNA AND THE APOCALYPSE); Lucy Brydon (BODY OF WATER); Moin Hussain (BIRCHANGER LANE); Rob Savage (HOST); Sarah Brocklehurst (ANIMALS).
